Tim Gollins spoke at the Science and Technology Facilities Council

Last Friday I was lucky enough to be invited to speak at an event jointly hosted by the Science & Technology Facilities Council (STFC) and The Royal United Services Institute (RUSI) held in the wonderful RUSI building in Whitehall. The event was entitled “RUSI/STFC Futures – Big Data for Security and Resilience: Challenges and Opportunities for the Next Generation of Policymakers” (https://www.rusi.org/events/ref:E52EF7C3E21AEF/) and was hosted by Jennifer Cole (Senior Research fellow, RUSI – https://www.rusi.org/about/staff/Dr/ref:B45C32BC24EA07/ ) and Professor Bryan Edwards (leader of the Defence Security and Resilience theme of the STFC Futures Programme – http://www.stfc.ac.uk/2956.aspx ). If you would like to understand why we think dusty documents really matter in the context of Big Data for Security and Resilience take a look at my presentation <link to slides>. I will be writing up the presentation as a paper for inclusion in the STFC/RUSI record of the event and aim to post my paper here very soon.

Tim.
